The first movie ever I watched on TV was King Kong. I saw it on a neighbors TV because we didn't own one -- The 1933 RKO Radio Pictures version -- when I was 6 years old. It was rerun on TV this evening. It's one of the 100 Greatest Films by the National Film Registry... and King Kong was the defining point that turned my interests to "things that aren't real" - monsters and science fiction. I've been an avid watcher of monster and science fiction films ever since so I have thousands of hours of vicarious memories of things that can never have really happened...
